COLLABORATIVE CARE, DESIGNED WITH INTENTION

Care that sees the whole system.

team approach banner

We believe that your mind and your body are not separate systems, and your care shouldn’t be either.

It is common for mental health care to feel fragmented. You might be working with a doctor for medication and a therapist for talk, but often, those two worlds never meet. At SYNT, we’ve created a space where your care is unified. Our team in Toronto and across Ontario stays in constant, quiet conversation to ensure your nervous system regulation and your emotional work are always supporting one another. We aren't just looking at symptoms; we are here to help you understand the unique "how" of your own physiology.

Understanding the Whole You

The SYNT Approach

Understanding the Whole You

Understanding the Whole You

With our diverse team, care begins with a broad understanding of how you function—emotionally, cognitively, physically, and in relationships. We take time to learn what’s contributing to your current challenges and what kind of support is most likely to help.

Nervous System Lens

Nervous System Lens

Nervous system regulation is part of the treatment, not an add-on. We pay attention to signs of overwhelm or shutdown and help the body settle, so the mind can engage more fully in the work of therapy.

Specialization & Flexibility

Specialization & Flexibility

Our team’s specializations allow us to tailor care without a fixed starting point. Support may include therapy, medical involvement, or both, depending on what best supports regulation. As needs change, the approach evolves with you.

Care that meets team approach

Care that meets challenges as they show up—within individuals and across relationships.

Therapeutic Modalities & Frameworks

How We Work in Practice

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

In practice, sessions often involve slowing situations down, examining how interpretations shape reactions, and experimenting with alternative ways of responding.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

When emotions escalate quickly, DBT works by holding acceptance and change at the same time, creating space for new choices in moments that once felt overwhelming.

Somatic & Nervous System–Informed Therapy

Somatic approaches focus on how stress and emotion live in the body. By paying attention to physical responses, we help calm the nervous system.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

Focuses on creating enough safety for difficult experiences to be explored without overwhelming the system. Sessions are paced carefully with attention to emotional and physical responses.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS therapy helps clients understand and work with different “parts” of themselves, especially those shaped by stress or past experiences. This approach supports self-compassion, emotional clarity, and internal regulation.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Often used in couples therapy to identify emotional cues beneath reactions, creating space for more secure and responsive connection.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy

Helps couples understand patterns that lead to conflict and disconnection, focusing on repair and improved communication.

Imago Therapy

Enables couples to probe their unconscious motivations for their relationship behaviors to build safety and empathy.

Collaboration & Continuity: Your Questions Answered

No. While some clients—especially those seeking ADHD medication support—choose an integrated care model, your path is always personalized. For specializations like trauma, BPD, or emotional regulation work, care is often led fully through therapy, with a strong focus on nervous system and somatic support.

Our team works collaboratively to ensure your care feels connected rather than fragmented. When multiple clinicians are involved, we coordinate intentionally behind the scenes so that therapy, medication support, and nervous system work are aligned. You won’t be asked to repeat your story across providers. And because confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy, we will regularly check in with you for clear, explicit permission before sharing information about your progress.

You don’t have to figure that out alone. Most clients begin with a consultation where we take time to understand what you’re experiencing—emotionally, physically, relationally, and cognitively. From there, we recommend a care path that fits your needs.
