There are times when simply functioning can feel exhausting. Individual therapy is a space to slow down and understand not just what you're feeling, but how your inner world has been shaped over time. At SYNT, we focus on the intersection of your neurotype, personal history, and nervous system patterns — helping you move from chronic overwhelm or reactivity into steadier regulation, intention, and self-trust.
We offer flexible online and in-person therapy in Toronto, tailored to what you actually need.
Most people who arrive at therapy have spent a long time trying to manage on their own — pushing harder, masking more, telling themselves they should be able to handle it. The behaviours that brought them here usually weren't random. They were strategies the nervous system developed to cope with circumstances no one quite named — and they often worked, for a while.
Many of our therapists draw from somatic, IFS, and psychodynamic approaches to understand how past experiences continue to shape who you are now.
Individual growth looks different at every age. Our therapists provide age-appropriate, neuro-affirming support tailored to the challenges of each life stage:
We help children make sense of their big emotions, build nervous system safety, navigate school-based challenges, and develop confidence in how their brain works.
A safe, non-judgmental space to navigate identity, social dynamics, emotional intensity, and the transition toward independence.
Support for unmasking, processing life transitions, and building emotional regulation across work, relationships, and mental health.
Support for later-life transitions — grief, cognitive changes, legacy, and maintaining steadiness through change.
We explore how past experiences and your unique neurotype have shaped your current self-view. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), we help you understand the different 'parts' of yourself — especially those shaped by stress — to support internal regulation and self-compassion. We also use Psychodynamic Therapy to explore how past relationships continue to shape your present-day dynamics.
Therapy is more than insight — it's regulation. We use Somatic approaches to focus on how stress and emotion live in the body. By working from the body up, we help calm the nervous system, making it easier for thoughts and emotions to shift without forcing change.
We move into the 'how' of your daily life. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you experiment with new ways of responding when thinking patterns feel stuck. For moments of high intensity, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) gives you tools to notice early signs of overwhelm — so you can make reflective choices instead of automatic ones when emotions peak.
Support for making sense of intense emotions, shifting long-standing patterns, and building a steadier sense of self over time.

Specialized therapy goes beyond simply talking through challenges. We integrate structured modalities like DBT, CBT, and IFS with a deep understanding of neurodiversity and trauma. While traditional therapy focuses on 'top-down' talking, we prioritize 'bottom-up' regulation — working with the physical sensations and nervous system responses where shutdown and reactivity actually live.
We offer both. Most clients work with us virtually for flexibility, but in-person sessions are available at our Liberty Village or Don Mills locations in Toronto. Your therapist will confirm what's available when you book.
Not at all. Many people begin therapy because something feels difficult, confusing, or unsustainable — not because they have a diagnosis. You don't need a referral or confirmed diagnosis to access care.
Yes. Our integrated care model means your therapist and Nurse Practitioner work in coordination — so your therapeutic tools and your biological stability move in the same direction, instead of in two parallel tracks.
We prioritize timely access. Most clients are matched with their therapist within a week after their introductory consultation.
Most private insurance plans in Canada cover services from Registered Psychotherapists or Social Workers. We provide professional receipts that you can submit for reimbursement. We always recommend confirming your specific plan details with your provider before booking. (See the Pricing section above for full session rates.)
